Chicken Shorba(Pakistani Chicken Curry)

Chicken shorba

Chicken shorba is a common chicken curry in pakistan. It is served with chapati,Naan or rice. Shorba consistency and taste depends on the quantity of onions and tomatoes.Also bhunai of masala is a must.Too much onions or tomatoes would spoil the taste. Do not add too much water. Measure 2 cups of water for this shorba and boil it.Water should be boiling hot.

(for 6 persons)


Chicken 1 kg, cut into pieces)
oil 5 tbsp
Onions 4 (sliced)
Ginger paste 2 tbsp
Garlic paste 2 tbsp
Red chili powder 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder ½ tsp

Coriander powder roasted 1 tsp

Salt 1 n 1/2 tsp
Cinnamon sticks 3
Green cardamom 4
Cloves 6
Black pepper 5
cumin 1 tsp

Ripe tomatoes 3
Yogurt 1 cup

Cooking Directions
Heat oil in a pot.
Add sliced onion, fry till they are lightly brown. Take it out from oil.

Grind fried onion ,tomatoes and yogurt.

Then add whole (spices)garam masala  in oil.Now
Add in ginger paste and garlic paste, fry again till it releases aroma.
Then add chicken, fry nicely till the oil starts to float.

Now add grinded mixture in chicken.

Mix in salt,coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric and fry well.

Add 2 cups of hot water and Simmer on low flame till the oil starts to float.

Serve with chapati or boiled rice.
