A delicious warm dessert. Lauki ka halwa is made with bottle gourd (lauki), sugar, nuts and reduced whole milk. It is usually enjoyed in winter season since warm desserts are preferred in winter.

Ingredients
  • 2 bottle gourds / Lauki
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1/4 cup clarified butter
  • 250 gm dry milk powder
  • 50 gm almonds sliced
  • 50 gm pistachios sliced
  • 2 tbsp kewra essence
Cooking Method
  1. Peel bottle gourds then remove the seeds.
  2. Grate bottle gourd / lauki properly.
  3. Now boil grated bottle gourd in small quantity of water until tender.
  4. Drain and keep aside.
  5. Heat a clarified butter in a pan on low heat.
  6. Add boiled bottle gourd and fry for 5 minutes or until all water dries up.
  7. Now add sugar and kewra essence.
  8. Cook on low flame for 10 minutes or until sugar has dissolved.
  9. Add dried milk.
  10. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  11. Take it out in a serving bowl.
  12. Garnish with almonds and pistachios.
  13. Delicious Lauki Ka Halwa is ready to serve.

Serving Suggestions

Serve warm.
